The Kenya Rural Blindness Eradication Program (‘Eye Camps’) is a project by the Rotary Club of Nairobi now in its 28th year! It was conceived and facilitated by the RC of Marburg Schloss in Germany.
In February 2013, the Rotary Club of Nairobi carried out another free eye camp for patients from Kisii and environs. 500 patients were identified having cataracts and out of these 165 cataract operations were done due to constraints of funds.
The eye camp was organized by Honorary Rotarian Dr. Mukesh Joshi, Club President Ann Vanlauwe, Rtn Salim Fazal (Co-ordinater), PP Jonathan Campaigne and PE David Hastie (Financial Controller) and a team of ophthalmologists.
This Eye Camp was sponsored by Mr. Hasmukh Rawal, a lens implant was donated by Mr. Lal Dave and disposables were donated by Beaver Visitec.
